Boy racers causing 'havoc' across Aylesbury
The issue was raised at a meeting of the new Aylesbury Community Board, where inspector Simon Lincoln revealed what his team had been up to in the town over the past few weeks and where other issues concerning residents and councillors were discussed.
Andrew Huxley, councillor for Aylesbury North West, brought up the issue of boy racing in the town — which is when a young person drives “very fast and aggressively in a high-powered car”.

Cllr Huxley asked Mr Lincoln what Thames Valley Police was doing to tackle this issue.
The police chief said nothing was being done at the moment, but added: “that isn’t to say we won’t do anything about it.”
He continued: “This is the first I’ve heard of it. If I’m honest, in the past couple of weeks I have not heard a lot in relation to boy racers.

“I really want our community to tell the police about this because the more they tell the police, the more information I have to give a response.”
Councillor Brian Roberts intervened in the discussion to tell Mr Lincoln he had already reported the issue to police on a handful of occasions.
He said: “We’ve seen, and I have reported them two or three times, no seat belts, on their mobile phones, all sorts of different things.

“If you find the time with your officers, just spend a couple of weeks on the road to scare people and let them know they can’t get away with it, they do have a killing machine in front of them and they’ve got to do something about it. “
Mr Lincoln responded to Cllr Roberts’ suggestion by promising to raise the issue with the relevant police department.
He said: “I’ve made no secret I’m a previous road policing officer so I do have a passion for people driving safely and I will endeavour to address issues in relation to people boy racing.

“We get coverage from Milton Keynes and Amersham, however, I will make representations about the concerns the community has around boy racing and see if I can increase the exposure we have to roads policing officers driving around the estates.”
The discussion took place at a meeting of Aylesbury Community Board on Tuesday, November 24.
