VIDEO: Time-lapse footage shows six-day £400k pub refurb in two minutes
The Kings Arms, on the Berkhamsted High Street, closed on November 1 for six days while the work was carried out – including the installation of a wood-fired pizza oven taking centre stage in the dining area.
An army of tradesmen descended on the building – owned and run by Tring-based firm Oakman Inns since 2010 – to carry out the re-decoration and reconfiguration before the reopening on November 7.

Hide AdThe pub’s principal function room – known at the Greene Room after local author Graham Greene – now has a dedicated kitchen after an adjacent bedroom was converted.
Other bedrooms have been updated, soundproofed and redecorated to bring them ‘up to standard’ and repairs took place on the roof and second floor.
Downstairs in the bar area, the open fireplace has been restored and the bar furniture replaced with leather seating.
Behind the scenes, improvements to the working areas with upgraded extraction airflows and new equipment means a better working environment for kitchen staff.
